The first race of the 2008 Dino Series Trail Runs was held yesterday at Eagle Creek. According to the series organizer, Brian Holzhausen, it was the coldest,
snowiest DINO race ever. The temperature was around 20° at the start of the 15k and the trails were covered with an inch or two of snow. Given the snow and freezing temperature, I wasn’t expecting much mud. Wrong. Mud was plentiful. The 15k consisted of three laps of a 5k course. Times seemed a little slow so I’m thinking it may have been a bit more than 5k or perhaps is was just the mud and snow that slowed everyone down.
I was expecting to finish in under 1:10. That didn’t happen; however, my time of 1:16:19 was good enough for 2
nd in the 45-49 age group and 24
th overall. My best finish to date in a Dino Series race.
