Sleeves and Races

It’s been a little too long since my last post. Been pretty busy in the intervening weeks. I just recently received a pair of Moeben Sleeves, so although it’s just now warming up, I already can’t wait for some cooler weather so I can try them out. You might be asking, why did I buy them now. Good question. I didn’t buy them they were a gift from Moeben. To make a long story short, I had some questions regarding their sleeves and they had some problems with their internet and email. Next thing I know they are offering to send me a pair free. All I had to do was tell them the size and pattern I wanted. Not only did they send them free, but they sent them overnight delivery. They are really cool. The sleeves and the company that is.

Last weekend the Dino Trail Series came to Avon. I never run at the park where the race was held, but it’s really a pretty nice trail system so I should run there. Maybe tomorrow I will. Anyway, it was a great day for a race. It rained pretty hard right before the start of the race so there was a very slick but thin layer of mud over much of the course especially the steep hills. I ran a pretty good race. I came in 15th overall in the 15k. That was good for 1st in my age group. Still I think I could have run that course a little faster, but I’m happy with the result.

Regina ran the 5k, her first trail run and only her second race. I think she’s hooked. She slipped on one of the steep down hills and took on a healthy layer of mud. She doesn’t like getting wet or dirty, but she enjoyed it out there. That’s no surprise to anyone who does trail runs. The joy of running trails is one of those things that is difficult to explain to people who don’t do it; it’s just something you have to experience. Once you do you can’t help but love it. Regina is looking forward to the next Dino race in Brown County State Park and she even wants to buy a pair of trail running shoes.
